Conference Materials

This conference is tailored to University of Connecticut First Year Experience instructors. But any University of Connecticut faculty, staff, or graduate student from any of our campuses interested in learning how to best serve first-year students in their classrooms is welcome to attend.

Tuesday, May 11, 2021, 10:00am-3:00pm

Keynote: Theater Delta, "Can I be of any help?"

In conjunction with UConn's Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL), Theater Delta will provide an interactive theatrical performance and facilitated discussion that will address conflicts that may appear in the classroom based on racism, classism, homophobia, cultural appropriation, etc. 

Workshops: "It's Not You, It's Me" - Working with Quiet Classes, How to coach students through failure, Growth mindset for handling adversity, Fear Factor for Instructors, How to Grade/Give Feedback for the Critical Writing Assignment, Good Enough vs. Perfectionism, and of course, a LCIZ Makerspace session!

Food: Breakfast will be provided prior to the keynote in McHugh.  Lunch will be catered by Gansett Wraps in Werth Residence Tower.
